Welcome to my page.

My name is Kata, I'm a functional trainer and lifestyle consultant - but above all, I'm a movement addict.

A few words about me and MindfulFitness.
As these lines usually start - I also bring the love and need for movement from childhood; For as long as I can remember, I've always been fidgeting around.

It started with dancing when I was in my early teens - which is still a part of my life to this day - then as a teenager struggling with my weight, I started working out first using bodyweight exercises mostly, and not long after, I also stepped foot in a gym.

I actively cultivated this for 10+ years, until I thought it was time to make all the self-taught knowledge I had gathered official, so I started my first fitness certifications - followed by a lot of others. I have dealt with many forms of movement over the years, the different trends have all shaped and inspired the way I approach sports today: training based on the love of movement, effective but enjoyable, using natural and correct movement patterns - with a fashionable (and often misunderstood) word, functional principles.

This is how I approach my trainings - my goal is to re-teach your body to move correctly, thus regaining the correct posture, as well as the natural movement skills, - range of motion and movement patterns that have been worn out or overwritten by the years and modern lifestyle.

All this in an enjoyable, playful way, with the emphasis on the movement itself instead of isolated muscle training.

And this is where functional training comes into play - and what does that mean exactly?

Contrary to popular belief, it's not functional because of the tools used, nor even necessarily because of the exercises, but because it simultaneously develops all motor functions (strength, endurance, coordination, explosiveness, speed, balance, flexibility, agility) and because it first focuses on movement competence and increases resistance only once that's in place - it does all this in order to restore and strengthen the correct movement patterns and ranges, as well as to prevent possible future pain and injuries.

And although I consider proper movement competence and healthy movement to be more important than a flat stomach - I know that you not only want to feel good, but also want to look good, and as a trainer, of course, I do not ignore this. In practice, this means that strengthening and shaping exercises are complemented with exercises improving your mobility, posture, coordination and movement competencies - tailored to you personally.

I also consider the role of nutrition in the lifestyle to be at least as important: there is no amount of exercise that can compensate for a bad diet.
Not to mention the long-term hormonal and health effects of the average "western" diet.

I know from experience that many more diseases can (could) be prevented by proper eating than you think... but I don't believe in asceticism and miracle diets, so please don't expect one of those from me.

If you need it, I will be happy to help you create a diet tailored to you personally, though - one that suits your lifestyle, hormonal system, taste and potential food intolerancies - something that restricts just enough to be effective, but is also flexible enough so that it won't be a temporary cure, but something that will be a sustainable and effective lifestyle in the long term

Why "mindful"?

There is one more important aspect of the way I look at lifestyle and health, and without it the picture would not be complete: and this the spiritual side of things.

The mental factor is very strongly present in relation to both movement and eating, habits and if we ignore it, there will be a much smaller chance of long-term change.

But what does awareness and mindfulness have to do with sport?

There are more connection points than you think.

👉 Eating and state of mind
Your current mental state strongly influences not only your appetite, but also your choice of food - surely you also know a stress eater, or on the contrary, someone who cannot eat when they are upset, nervous or sad. These conditions can be recognized and treated with a little awareness.

👉 Stress and sports
There are many ways to manage stress - exercise being one of the best and simplest options. I would like as many people as possible to experience the incomparable flow experience that movement can provide. If you haven't experienced this before, you will be surprised how great a stress reliever and even meditative activity a workout can be.

👉 Sport and personality
It may not be obvious, but regular training also has a very strong effect of shaping your attitude and personality - if you know a competitive athlete, you know what I'm talking about. But you don't have to go to elite sports to experience this; if you win over yourself every (or every other) day in the gym, this "I can do it" attitude will sooner or later infect other areas of your life as well. Of course, a more beautiful, "better" body in itself has a positive effect on your motivation, willpower and self-confidence - but once you realize how much further it can take you, you never want to stop.
